Frequently Asked Questions
Shipping:
As of right now we do not have a shipping option. We are only doing pickups or local deliveries.
Pickup Options:
You have multiple choices for pickup. You can come to the Farmstand or porch pickup depending on weather. You can also find us at the Delaware Farmers Market on certain Saturdays from late may through October. We will post on our socials what market dates we plan to attend, as well as update our Farmer’s Market menu page a few days before that week’s market.
You may also request we bring your items to the market for pickup. We may also consider delivery at an additional charge depending on your location, please inquire.
Why is my honey crystalized?
Honey is a super-saturated solution of primarily two sugars: glucose and fructose. It is a natural process for some of the sugars in a super-saturated solution to eventually come out of solution. All raw honey will crystallize due to glucose. Crystallization is in fact natural for raw honey but to try and prevent it, set it in a location that doesn't drop temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
You can use crystalized honey as a more spreadable honey or warm it up! PSA: Our labels are gold foiled, DO NOT MICROWAVE IN THE JAR! What I recommend is to heat your oven at its lowest setting or set the jar in hot water until the honey is slightly more liquid and then stir. You do not want to heat the honey too much or often as this would pasteurize the honey and would no longer be “Raw Honey.” We prefer to slowly un-crystalize using a heat mat used for starting seedlings, but it can take a few days.
Why is my honey jar not sealed?
Honey does not need a safety seal and is basically good forever without being sealed. We also do not seal our honey because we use glass jars. The process of sealing glass jars would require heat that would pasteurize the honey and thus would no longer be raw honey.
